Mustard on Turkey? YES, please.

Hi everyone,

U’s back with some excellent tips for Thanksgiving. Here one of them:

Put mustard all over your turkey then pop it into the oven in 350 degrees. The bird always comes out delicious!Image

Please share this idea with your family and ENJOY! Happy Thanksgiving from Homestay in LA. Check out our Facebook page 😉

Thanksgiving is around the corner!!!

Hi Angelenos and friends,

Sorry for the leave of absence but I came back to talk about one of our favorite Holidays, Thanksgiving! We know everyone will be with their families but there are a few events and activities around town for those of you celebrating without your family. Some of the free events coming up are the Laugh Factory’s Annual Thanksgiving Feast. Free food and performances are given to those who are lonely on this day. Another event is the Holiday Global Bazaar at the Folk Craft Museum. This museum is one of my favorite places in LA. There will be live music, cocktails, and the opportunities to buy handcrafted items for Christmas.

Check some of these events out!

You love brownies? Cookies? How about a hybrid of the two?

Happy Friday everyone!

I know everyone is dying to celebrate the weekend. It’s also Veteran’s Day weekend is this weekend, which bringing us a three day holiday! We hope you’re all spending it well.

I know U has been the one to providing us with awesome recipes.

Here is a recipe I found on Serious Eats (my favorite food blog), I baked these brownie cookies for my friends when I visited SF.

Instead of chocolate chips, I used heath bar chunks.

Then I made these:

I thought it was festive 😀

LA Food Heaven: Natalie Peruvian

Hi everyone,

One of the best things about living in LA has got to be the diversity in food selection. I feel like the best food is inexpensive, flavorful, and filling. Natalie Peruvian is a restaurant my father and I enjoy.

Located in the heart of Hollywood, Natalie Peruvian offers dishes at a reasonable cost and tastes better than most South American fare in town. From ceviche to lomo saitado, Natalie Peruvian brings authentic cuisine that makes you feel like you’ve just climbed Machu Picchu.

Become a host!

Hi everyone,

Homestay in LA is looking for more hosts on the Westside of LA (Santa Monica, Venice, Mar Vista, Westwood, etc). We would love to have you or one of your friends accommodate an international student. You will be compensated for your generosity up to $800 a month. Not only will you be paid for your services but it is a rewarding experience. Unlike having tenants or roommates, hosting can teach you more about countries around the world while living in LA.

If any of you are interested, please contact me at or 480-319-3980/310-906-7236.

November is here!

Hi everyone!

My favorite month is finally here with smells of pumpkin and the holiday season just around the corner. But it’s also packed with events and activities. One of my favorite activities and/or events is the AFI Film Fest. A few years back, I volunteered for the festival and got to watched some really cool movies (not to mention a party for the volunteers at the end).

I highly recommend getting a film ticket (which are free). Or  you can also volunteer your time and meet new people. The festival runs from November 7th-November 14th. Get tickets while you can!
